How Easily Do You Adjust to Change? Take Our Quick Resiliency Quiz.

Resilience is defined by Merriam Webster as "an ability to recover from or adjust easily to misfortune or change." Where are you in terms of resiliency?

Consider the following statements and how they work in your life. Think of what you have, who you are, and what you can do as important strengths and resources that contribute to your resilience each and every day.

Take the Resiliency Quiz

Read each of the following statements and think about how much each one describes you. Assign a number from 1 through 10 to each statement, with 1 being "describes me the least," 5 being "describes me somewhat," and 10 being "describes me the most."

Then, add the score for all 21 statements to determine your resiliency score and use it with the corresponding score descriptions below.


I have:

  1. One or more persons within my family I can trust and who love me without reservation.
  2. One or more persons outside my family I can trust without reservation.
  3. Limits to my behavior.
  4. People who encourage me to be independent.
  5. Good role models.
  6. Access to health, education, social and security services I need.
  7. A stable family and community.

I am:

  1. A person most people like.
  2. Generally calm and good-natured.
  3. An achiever who plans for the future.
  4. A person who respects him/herself and others.
  5. Empathetic and caring of others.
  6. Responsible for my own behavior and accepting of the consequences of that behavior.

  1. Generate new ideas or new ways to do things.
  2. Stay with a task until it is finished.
  3. See the humor in life and use it to reduce tension.
  4. Express thoughts and feelings in communication with others.

  6. Manage my behavior – feelings, impulses, actions.
  7. Reach out for help when I need it.

 


 

Check Your Resiliency Score

170 or higher = very resilient
130-169 = more resilient than most
90-129 = adequate
50-89 = you're struggling
49 or lower = reach out for help
